  • Troubleshooting Sporadic Operation of Ram 3500 Electric Trailer Jack
  • If all the wiring on your electric jack is in good condition, and there doesn't seem to be a ground issue, it is likely you simply need to replace the switch itself. For your Ram 3500 Series Jack, the correct replacement switch is part # EJ-3520-PSW. This will hopefully resolve the intermittent issues you are having when operating the jack's movement.

  • Would Dead Breakaway Battery Throw Code for OEM Brake Controller on 2018 Chevy Silverado
  • I don't think a dead breakaway battery would cause an error message to pop up, but that is something that would need to be addressed anyways with a charger like the NOCO Genius Smart Battery Charger - AC to DC - 12V - 2 Amp # 329-GENIUS2D or by replacing the entire breakaway kit (see attached link). Once the battery is charged up or you have replaced it that will let you know if the dead battery was for some reason throwing a code or not. If you are stilling having that code pop up then...

  • Why Would Motorcycle Fork Seals Fail While Loaded on Trailer
  • Over tightening straps that secure a bike by the handlebars can blow out the fork seals. So I would not recommend the use of a strap that automatically tightens as you will end up with the problem you experienced. The CargoBuckle G3 Retractable Ratchet Tie-Down Straps # IMF18800 can self retract, but they do not self tighten. If these are the straps you used and the fork seals blew out it would be from either over tightening them on the initial install or weak seals.

  • Running Lights On 5th Wheel Trailer Not Working on 2016 Chevy Silverado 3500
  • Usually when there is a function that is not working on a trailer the most likely culprit is a dirty or corroded trailer connector. Make sure the trailer 7-Way, the new 7-Way, # 50-97-410, and where the new 7-Way Tees into the bumper 7-Way are all clean and free of corrosion inside, where the wires attach, and outside on the pins. While it is unlikely the connectors on your 2016 Chevy Silverado 3500 are corroded it is still worth taking the time to check the connections. I also recommend...

  • Factory Brake Controller On 2020 Silverado Not Working w/ Electric Over Hydraulic Brake on 5th Wheel
  • From what I've determined, the OEM brake controller on your Silverado isn't compatible with electric over hydraulic braking systems. If your were using a HydraStar brake actuator like # HBA16, the # HBA-CAM adapter unit you mentioned would work great, but it's not compatible with the Dexter EOH actuator according to HydraStar, so it wouldn't be a good choice. Your best bet will be to install an EOH-compatible aftermarket brake controller. For a more traditional controller, the Tekonsha...

  • Troubleshooting A Furrion Vision S RV Camera System That Won't Pair To The Monitor
  • The reason why your Furrion Vision S RV Camera System # FCE48TASL-07 is failing to pair is because your 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500 has PWM wiring, which will not provide enough power for the camera system to properly operate. There are two solutions to this issue: Option 1: By using the 7-Way Vehicle Power Adapter w/ Power Switch for Furrion RV Observation Camera # FR87PR. This adapter will send a steady current to the camera allowing you to receive a signal to your monitor. The male end...

  • Troubleshooting Bluetooth Connectivity With The Jensen RV Wall Stereo # JWM90A
  • If you've already cut the power to your Jensen Wall Mount RV Stereo # JWM90A to reset it and it's still not generating a Bluetooth signal then the stereo is the issue. Since this is a common issue with this specific model my honest recommendation is to just replace it with a different one like the Furrion RV Stereo # DV3300SBL and avoid the frustration of a malfunctioning stereo. This unit has similar dimensions to the # JWM90A and plays audio from radio signals, CDs, DVDs, and devices...

  • No Power to Airlift 74000 WirelessAIR Compressor on 2018 Silverado 3500
  • It sounds like you are on the correct path to getting the wiring tested. The only thought I have is to try waking up the system with the remote or the smartphone app. I did see a note that when it is not connected to the ignition system that it will require either movement from the vehicle or activation from the controller to awaken the system. If this does not work for you make sure to verify that all the connections are solid and plugged in and if the air bags already have the 5psi...

  • Troubleshooting B&W Patriot with Head that is Locked Up
  • Have you been greasing the head of your B and W twice a year like recommended? It sounds yours might be locked up from a lack of lubrication. There is a zerk fitting under the jaws that you can use to add grease. You can and also grease the jaws themselves with white lithium grease like part # L11316.

  • Should The Sidewinder Wedge Rotary Wheel Still Rotate While The Wedge Is Torqued Down
  • The rotary wheel on your Reese Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pin with Rotating Turret # RP77FR should still be loose enough to slide your wedge back and forth while it's torqued down. It sounds to me like you may have accidently over-torqued the bolts so I recommend checking the manual that came with your Sidewinder and ensuring that you're torqueing the bolts to the correct specifications.

  • Front Jacks for Lippert Ground Control Don't Level 5th Wheel Trailer
  • Do you get any error code on the controller for the Lippert Ground Control 3.0 # LC675817? Usually that helps to troubleshoot and the manual gives an exact solution for each error code. You might also try resetting the Zero Point Calibration to see if that helps. You can see how to do that on page 19 of the attached instructions. Is the problem that those front jacks aren't working at all, or do they just not go down far enough to level the 5th wheel? If the issue is that the jacks just...

  • Solution for Curt Q24 Fifth Wheel Hitch that is Difficult to Unlatch
  • Some hitches just are more finnicky than others when it comes to releasing the jaws. You've done everything right by keeping the hitch and jaws maintained and lubricated so there's nothing that's going to make your hitch easier to unlatch other than making sure the trailer is totally level and straight like you already have mentioned. Curt recently redesigned the Q series hitches with the A series like the A25 part # C16180 which was done to help with the jaw issues of the Q series. The...

  • Troubleshooting Electric Lockout on Trailer with Surge Coupler
  • Your description of your trailer setup indicates that your surge coupler has an electric lockout feature to allow you to reverse the trailer without the surge brakes engaging. Some surge couplers use a manual lockout but yours has a solenoid with two wires (ground and hot) that take in the truck's reverse light signal; this closes the solenoid so no hydraulic brake fluid pressure can reach your brakes when you back up. Somewhere in your wiring you are losing your connection to the Silverado's...

  • Cant Insert Pins to Secure 5th Wheel Hitch in Adapter C16023 if Using Rail Sound Dampeners 16900
  • Fifth Wheel Rail Sound Dampeners # 16900 were originally designed to fit on industry standard above the bed rails. The adapter you mentioned, # C16023, has the slots in it to emulate industry standard rails so if the dampeners were compressed enough (with enough weight pushing down on them) then that should allow you to use the regular pins. You definitely want to use the regular pins and nothing smaller because a smaller pin would not carry the same rating. If you just cannot get the...

  • Troubleshooting Electric Over Hydraulic Brakes Not Activating of Vehicle
  • It sounds like there may be an issue with the wiring in the trailer to the hydraulic brake actuator. When you installed the Adapter Module # DX35FR you did receive the trailer connected message. I have attached the instructions for the Adapter Module that shows several different wiring schematics for the popular hydraulic actuators. If yours is not listed let me know and I will help you find the correct wiring. It sounds like there may be issue with the power wire that is going into...

  • Troubleshooting Lippert Ground Control System that Clicks When Retracting
  • Since you said the battery is good it sounds like the wiring to the battery might be loose or there is some corrosion or dirt preventing a solid connection. When you hear that clicking sound it means that the motor can't draw enough power to operate. Since all of them are doing it I'd say that rules out it being a bad motor.

  • No Power on 12-V Pin of 7-Way Trailer Connector on 2018 Chevy Silverado 3500
  • There shouldn't be any connections necessary under the hood, but you might have a fuse that's blown or missing. The fuse that protects/powers up that circuit is located in the Engine Compartment Fuse Block, in location # 2. Check that fuse and install or replace if necessary.

  • How to Fix Chucking and Jarring With 5th Wheel Hitch
  • What you were experience is what is known as chucking. This is not something unusual and it can be caused by your 5th wheel jaw(s) not being very snug around the king pin, and/or the head of your 5th wheel does not move or pivot very much. When you hit a bump in the road, there is just enough wiggle room for the king pin to move since the trailer is moving differently than the truck for those few seconds. Another possibility that you will want to check is the Tongue Weight. The Tongue Weight...

  • Why are My Trailer Brakes Losing Power?
  • One thing to do to troubleshoot your issue with the brake wiring is to make sure that you are getting power from the vehicle's 7-way to the braking pin on your trailer's 7-way connector. I went ahead and attached the diagrams of the pin setups on different styles of 7-way connectors. If you need a circuit tester, I recommend part # PTW2993. It is possible that there are some frayed wiring and some corrosion at the pin location as well. When testing this circuit, it is important to use the...

  • How to Fix Check Trailer Wiring Message on 2015 Chevrolet Silverado and Trailer with LED Lights
  • The Curt 7-Way Trailer Adapter # C57003 is designed to be used on Volkswagens, Audis, and Porsches but we have seen some success on other vehicle makes. I can't say for sure but it might solve your issue. The adapter uses load resistors which creates more power draw. Another possible solution is to install load resistors # DI34ZR.
